New album “slowly then all at once” available wherever you stream
Wild Coast is Jon William Johnson’s solo indie folk thing. It started with a drum track sent during lockdown and snowballed into an album five years later—because apparently that’s how long it takes to process your feelings when you record in a garage with bad insulation.
The new record slowly then all at once (out now via Give/Take Records) features contributions from Dan Bailey (Father John Misty) and bassist Terry Mattson (Fences, Cataldo, Hey Marseille), with lots of late-night tracking, Dropbox uploads, and whispered vocals so the neighbors wouldn’t complain. It’s folk-adjacent, Americana-ish, and very much about that feeling when something beautiful unravels.
Also yes, there’s a few synths. We checked. It’s legal.
